On the Southern edge of Sussex County lays 10,000 acres of sandy ridges and shallow depressions, better known as the Great Cypress Swamp. At one point in time, swamp land made up about 60,000 acres. Over the past few years, Delaware Wild Lands Inc. has worked to grow up this wetland. Now on the property bald eagles fly, turtles bask and owls watch. Delaware Wild Lands Inc. Field Ecologist Andrew Martin says the growth has been rapid.
