Did you ever think about water having an impact on your teeth? Dr. Joseph Harmon, with Delmarva Dental Services, to tell us about the impact water has on your teeth.

Dr. Harmon says that bottled water can come from the city where it is bottled. He also tells us that water labeled as ‘spring water’ is anything that is drilled from a well.

pH in Water:

  • 7 is neutral
  • <7: acidic
  • >7: basic

Dr. Harmon says, “A lot of water is close to soda. A lot of them are 3’s and 4’s.” When water is filtered, it goes through reverse osmosis which takes out particles that makes the water basic, which leads the bottled water to being more acidic. Not all bottled water goes through reverse osmosis.

There is a table that tells you the various pH’s in water and what they recommend, and do not recommend at delmarvadentalservices.com.
