Ice cream can contain dangerous and even deadly bacteria. There was a Blue Bell ice cream recall recently after 3 people died after eating contaminated ice cream. The ice cream was made on a single production line in Texas. Blue bell has removed the products and shut down the production line where the contaminated ice cream was made.
Listeriosis affects 1600 people each year and is usually caused by eating contaminated foods. Found in raw meat and vegetables and unpasteurized milk and cheeses. Also found in ready-to-eat meats and seafood. The longer the food is stored, the higher the chance for the bacteria to grow.
