Gardening Expert, Ginny Rosenkranz, joins us in Historic Studio D to show off some sun-loving and shade-loving plants.

Ginny also tells us about how the color of the pots that our plants are in is important. She says dark colored pots are best for shade-loving plants. If dark colored pots are in direct sunlight, it can actually bake the roots of the plant.

Lisa and Ginny put different plants together in a pot to make it look full. Ginny uses thrillers which are plants that grow upright which gives height and excitement to the pot. The next step is to add fillers which are used to fill the center of the area. Ginny says it’s important to not over plant because as the plant grows, it will take up more room in the pot. Lastly, they add spillers to the pot. Spillers asre planted at the edge of the pot and spill over the lip of the container.
