Landscape lighting is a new way to shine a light on all of the hard work that homeowners put into the landscape of their homes. Dale Carey from Atlantic Irrigation says that these outdoor lights do way more than add curb appeal. They also serve a lot of practical purposes, such as protecting your home from burglary and help lighting pathways to and from your home.
Outside lights have been around for years, but LED lighting has become increasingly popular, due to the fact that these lights can last up to 50, 000 hours. Not only do these lights last a long time, but they give homeowners a lot more options when it comes to lighting. You can even change the settings of the lights from inside your home, using your smartphone. LED lights have also become a lot more affordable over the years, they use to cost around 18 dollars a month, and now they are only one dollar a month.
Sean Streicher and Lisa Bryant also discuss more ways to save a few extra dollars, starting with your appliances at home. A few helpful tips include:
- Keeping the oven door closed
- Turning off the oven early
- Heating hot tap water
- Use the microwave or slow cooker
- Setting refrigerator to 34 degrees, and freezer to 0-5 degrees
- Running the dishwasher only when it is full
- Use cold water to clean the dishes, and use the dry air cycle
- Setting the water heater to 120 degrees, instead of the average set temperature at 140 degrees
