More than seventy sea glass artists, joined by decoy carvers and waterfowl artists, will fill the Cape May-Lewes Ferry Terminal on June 25-26.

The Lewes Historical Society will hold the seventh annual 2016 Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival on June 25-26 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Sunday.

According to the Lewes Historical Society, last year’s festival attracted more than 4,000 visitors and each year the festival continues to grow. Mike DiPaolo, executive director of the Lewes Historical Society, says the event has come a long way over the years.

“There was an event called the North American Sea Glass Festival we would hold in the fall—it was always a crummy weekend and the place was always mobbed,” DiPaolo says. “At the time, the [Lewes] Historical Society had another event in June and it was just moving along. We decided to inject a little light into the sea glass festival, we saw there weren’t any regional versions, so we discontinued our previous event and started the Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival.”

During the two day event, spectators can expect to see vendors from up and down the East Coast, and as far away as the Virgin Islands.

“We have people come from Hawaii, Florida, Greece and Italy and almost every vendor tells us it’s the best,” DiPaolo says. “We’re in a great area, the Delaware beaches, Ocean City, New Jersey and the Jersey Shore… People are here having a good time and they want to bring something back with them.”

In addition to sea glass and art, the festival will showcase Cape May-Lewes Ferry food, kids activities and more. Live entertainment will be provided by Jimmy G on the Steel Drums Saturday afternoon from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. and specialist Keith Fleming will be at the event on Sunday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., to identify your personal treasures on-site.

Admission to the festival is $5 per person; children under 12 free.
