Nicholas Lee, the owner of Nicholas Lee Guitars recently sold a prize possession, for a pretty penny.
Lee’s guitar is a circa 1935 Rickenbacker electro-spanish full-scale electric guitar, that sold for 7.5 million dollars.
This guitar was the foundation for electric instruments, and was the worlds first full-scale electric guitar. Less then 50 instruments in this model were ever produced, and only 7 are in existence now. This instrument is valued and appraised in context of american history, and is worth every penny.
Lee’s story of acquiring this piece of history is even more unique, he bought it on accident.
After searching for a specific instrument part online, Lee bought this in hopes of using the single mechanism, and discarding the remainder, but after realizing the beauty and history in this piece, he has treasured its whole.
Still completely functional, the guitar was purchased in order to be placed in a museum exhibit for the world to see.
Looking very worn and used, Lee said that the original owners kept it passed through generations in their family until he purchased it.
Lee plans to dedicate his profits to a non-profit organization for animals.
