We’re kicking off 2018 with a good ole fashioned geek moment!
We’re hanging out with the group M4 Reactor. Executive Director of M4 Reactor in Salisbury, Md. is Kevin Justice, and he brought in some bots to show off.
He brought in the eggbot where a Sharpie pen is drawing a picture on an egg. Kevin also shows us a balance bot which uses sensors to balance itself. The robot can also move his arms up and down. Kevin brought in an arachnid robot that moves and even has a camera so you can film people if you wanted.
M4 Reactor teaches people through STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) how to make things.
“Our objective for youth is to expose them to STEM technologies to try to put them on a career path into those STEM careers,” Kevin says. “For adults, the plan is to improve their skills for workforce development and hopefully they’ll get a better job in the manufacturing technologies.”
M4 Reactor offers different programs for children and adults. Kevin says these skills are important for the youth and learning the core technologies at a young age will give them the best chance at a future career in the STEM field.
The next M4 Reactor Open House is Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10 am-noon at the Tri-County Council Building. Admission is free.
