SALISBURY, Md.- The 2017 Golden Retriever Club of America National Specialty will be held Sept. 22-30, at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center in Salisbury and nearby venues in both Maryland and Delaware.

The Potomac Valley Golden Retriever Club is hosting the show, with the theme of “Paws ‘N Claws.”

Golden retrievers will get a chance to show off their talents and abilities in a variety of different competitions, such as hunt, tracking and obedience tests as well as agility and field trials. In addition, the eight-day event will feature seminars and workshops.

According to Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism, the show is is expected to bring more than 5,000 attendees to the area, resulting in a hotel room night demand in excess of 6,000 and an estimated economic impact of nearly $5.7 million.

A portion of Glen Avenue in front of the civic center will close Sunday, Sept. 24 at 7 a.m. through Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10 p.m. The closed portion runs from Civic Avenue to St. Albans Drive.
