The Ocean City boardwalk makes #12 on the list. In 1900, the first boardwalk was constructed in Ocean City. Did you know that the boardwalk wasn’t a year-round fixture? In the winter, the boards were actually taken up and stored until spring. In 1910, a permanent boardwalk was built, but after a storm in 1962, the boardwalk was rebuilt to it’s present length ending at 27th street. Ocean City’s boardwalk is about 3 miles and encompasses lots of food, games, and shopping.

You can walk the 3 miles of boardwalk in OC or you can rent a bike from one of their many bike shops or ride the boardwalk tram. There are plenty of rides and arcade games to keep the whole family entertained. Trimper’s carousel dates back to 1902 and is the country’s oldest continuously operating carousel.

There is free boardwalk entertainment most evenings in the summer which include concerts and movies. The Atlantic Hotel was one of the first hotels to offer accommodations to the public.

Thrasher’s French Fries is a summer must-have item in OC. People are lined up for this hot, peanut oil-simmered treat. Thrasher’s was named #2 on Buzzfeed’s ‘Top Fries to Eat Before You Die’ List.

Fisher’s Popcorn is another popular place to grab a snack on the OC boardwalk. Fisher’s was opened in 1973 by Everett Fisher. They have their famous caramel popcorn, Old Bay popcorn, butter flavored popcorn, and more.
