When it comes to eyelashes, many people believe the longer the better.
However, many people do not have time to glue on false lashes every morning. DelmarvaLife’s Maxine Bentzel recently visited About Faces Day Spa and Salon in Salisbury to find out everything you need to know about eyelash extensions.
Spa Manager, Crystal Miles, says Xtreme Eyelash Extensions can give you a bold, beautiful, bright-eyed look from the moment you wake up. Crystal told us about how the process works.
“Basically it’s where you would have individual lashes that are attached with glue to your lashes. So it’s kind of like hair extensions in that regard,” Crystal says. “Each extension is applied to each lash.”
The pain-free process of getting a full set of synthetic eyelashes takes about two hours. Esthetician Carla Staubs says up to 70 lashes can be placed on each eye – but it all depends on your natural lashes. The more natural lashes you have to work with, the better.
Many women these days want to go for a more dramatic look with longer lashes. Crystal says within the past year, they’ve had an influx of customers looking to amp up their lashes.
“We have all age ranges. We have you know some young people who you know just don’t want to put mascara on every day. They want to have fuller lashes. Typically they tend to have a little bit more something fun and creative,” Crystal says. “Then we have a good bit of middle-aged women who are professionals, and maybe they just don’t have a lot of lashes, and they want to have full or a fuller look.”
The lashes are only semi-permanent, so over time, they will start to fall out.
“You’re naturally shedding lashes all of the time so you may notice, you’re going to notice lashes on the pillow or on the sink when you’re cleansing and it’s not that your lashes are the extension is popping off of your lash, it’s most likely that your natural lash has shedded,” Carla says.
When that starts to happen, it means it’s time for a refill. If you want to make your lashes last, it’s also important to take care of them.
“I always say treat them like your babies you want to be very gentle with them,” Carla says. “Some people are in the habit of pulling and tugging on their lashes try to avoid that, and yes sleeping on your back is ultimately better than sleeping on the side if you can because your eyes would get pressed up on the pillow and it could cause a detachment or two.”
Maxine loves how lightweight the eyelash extensions were.
“The’re perfect. They look beautiful,” Maxine says. “They’re so lightweight it’s like they weren’t even there.”
About Faces also offers a full line of aftercare products like makeup remover and mascara so your brand new lashes stay beautiful long after you leave the salon.
