There are a few summertime staples on Delmarva: crabs, the beach, and having fun in the sun on the beautiful waters that surround the peninsula.
Before you jump into the boat, or on a jet ski, you’ll want to take the proper precautions to make sure everyone stays safe on the water.
102.5 WBOC’s Corey Phoebus recently stopped by Bayside Jet Drive in Berlin to share several summer safety tips.
- Check over machine
- Noise-making device
- Current fire extinguisher
- Safety sticker
- Proper fitting life jacket
Owner, Eric Fiori, tells us about the difference between propeller driven boats and jet driven boats.
Eric says the propeller can be dangerous and with jet driven boats, there is not propeller on the outside.
“A jet driven watercraft is called an impeller because it’s inside of housing,” Eric says. “The kids can jump on and off the boat all day long with no worries.”
Jet driven boats are safer, more efficient, quieter, and easy to take care of. Eric says as technology has evolved over the years, jet driven boats are more popular than propeller boats and jet driven watercraft is definitely the way to go when deciding what type of boat to purchase.
