Dr. Catherine Smoot, board-certified ophthalmologist with Chesapeake Eye Center joins Jimmy to talk about double vision.

“Double vision is when you see two images when you should only be seeing one,” Dr. Smoot says. “They may be just slightly apart or they could be wide apart.”

Jimmy and Dr. Smoot show an example of double vision as well.

Dr. Smoot tells us about things that can cause double vision such as a refraction problem or cataract formation.

Double Vision: Possible Causes

  • Problem with muscles
  • Thyroid disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Aneurysms
  • Tumors

Double vision could be indicating a lot more. Dr. Smoot says when there is sudden onset of double vision, it is important to see your ophthalmologist.
