It is often said you need the right tool for the job.
When it comes to towing a trailer, Creighton’s Trailer Sales owner, Chuck Creighton says that tool is the truck you are using. Let’s say you’ve got a truck with intentions to tow a trailer behind it, but now you want to know what size trailer that truck can handle. Chuck told me there’s a little bit you need to know, but it’s not as difficult it may seem.
First of all, no need to look at the truck owners manual for towing capacity information. Chuck says all the information you need is on the vehicle’s hitch. Payload capacity is how much a vehicle can hold with the passenger and the loaded cargo. However, the towing capacity is all about how much the truck can tow.
However, if you’re still unsure about how to go about finding the right trailer, Chuck says to stop by his location and he’ll lead you in the right direction.
