Running a 5k in cold weather may not be for everyone.
However, the Chocolate 5K Run/Walk at Delaware Technical Community College will definitely draw a big crowd. It’s an event where participants will be able to enjoy lots of chocolate treats after they cross the finish line! These goodies are prepared by students involved in Delaware Technical Community College’s Culinary Arts program.
Chef Ed Hennessy is the Instructional Director of the Culinary Arts program. He says he looks forward to this event every year because it’s an excellent learning opportunity for his students.
“This is just a lot of fun because we have so many students involved. You know we have over a hundred students in the culinary arts program at this campus alone so they are all interested if they can find that time to get in here-either the week ahead practicing and preparing food and then the day of, when their serving.”
Funds raised from the Chocolate 5K Run/Walk will benefit Study Abroad scholarships and the on-campus Global Understanding Series. The Study Abroad scholarships give students the opportunity to travel to other countries while learning about different customs and cultures. The Global Understanding Series offers educational events on cross-cultural topics.
The event is on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 at the Delaware Technical Community College Terry Campus in Dover. The main 5K Run starts at 10:00 am. For a full schedule of events, head to their main event page.
