2017 has been a busy year for the Bryant family.

My husband took on a new job, our daughter got married, and we took on a total kitchen renovation.

Of those three events, the kitchen renovation created the least amount of stress. That’s because we put it in the hands of Mike Donohue of Kitchen Concepts Plus.

Very little has changed in our kitchen since we built our house in 1994. Back then, country blue was big and the “U” shaped

kitchen was trendy. All the things I liked back then, I wanted out. The only problem was I didn’t know where to start.

According to Donohue, that’s a common problem.

“There’s a lot of different pieces, moving parts,” said Donohue.  “It’s pretty complicated and you really want to come at it with somebody who has done that before to help you through the process.”

We met with Mike a few times, giving him a sense of what we wanted and what kind of budget we had to work with.  I knew I wanted to change the shape of the kitchen and include an island with a cook top and chairs.  We also wanted to tear out a pantry that was narrow and deep, it wasn’t very practical because items would get lost in the back.

Mike came up with the first draft of my kitchen on paper. After we tweaked it a bit, it was off to the showroom to pick out what we were going to put in the kitchen. That included counter tops, cabinets, back splash, lighting, hardware and floor.

Within days we were given a proposal with a line-by-line breakdown of the cost and a project schedule.

The entire project, from demo to completion, took about five weeks.

Today, I have the kitchen of my dreams and cannot wait to have the entire family over for a big dinner.
