Some people think that getting sick with a cold only happens in the winter. However, summer colds are fairly common.
Medical Director of the Emergency Department, Dr. Clark Willis with Peninsula Regional Medical Center, and Dr. Walt Gianelle, with Urgent Care at Your Doc’s In, talk to us about the differences between cold and allergy symptoms and remedies that could help.
Dr. Gianelle says it does not matter the season, if you’ve been exposed to the virus, you will be under the weather for a few days.
Dr. Willis says spring and fall are a bad time for allergy sufferers.
“Allergies shouldn’t have a fever, muscle aches, and sore throats,” Dr. Willis says. “Allergies are a recurrent issue more so than a cold.”
Remedies that the doctor mention to assist with a cold is hydration, rest, Tylenol/Motrin, nasal spray and salt water gargling.
The doctors also talk about the new partnership between PRMC and Your Doc’s In.
