When we think about diabetes, children are usually not the ones who come to mind.
But recent studies show both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is on the rise in children and teenagers. Researchers are trying to nail down the exact cause, but in the meantime, it’s comforting to know there are groups on Delamarva that can support the young people who are affected.
Susan Cottongim is a certified diabetes educator and dietitian at Peninsula Regional Medical Center and she stops by Historic Studio D to tell us about the Kids and Diabetes Support Group at PRMC.
The Kids and Teens Diabetes Support Group will meet on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Regional Medical Center’s Avery W. Hall Educational Center Auditorium. Susan also tells us about Camp Possibilities – a summer camp for kids and teens with diabetes.
