Sara England has a way of capturing the hearts of pet owners.
Educated as a graphic artist, England started out making t-shirts for the Smithsonian and the National Zoo, but it was a print of three dogs holding martinis that went to the dogs.
I had a little shop in New Market, Maryland and women came in and shopping and said, you know, you’re on to something, says England.
England started selling her designs at dog shows around the country. She would put breed-specific designs on everything from cheese boards to garden flags.
Eventually, Sara wanted to settle down and open another shop, that’s how
in Rehoboth Beach was born.
Sara also does custom prints that can be put on any of her products.
I can also work from a photograph, or they can bring the dog into the studio and I take pictures and get the perfect shot, says Sara.
Sara’s designs are not limited to dogs, she has a line of cats too.
