Waterfront dining, fresh crabs that were brought to a dock just feet away, watching riverboats on the water… Sounds great doesn’t it?

If you make a trip to Suicide Bridge Restaurant in Dorcester County, that lovely thought can be a reality.

Suicide Bridge is the fourth bridge to span Cabin Creek since 1888. As legend tells us, Suicide Bridge got its name for the number of people whose lives have ended in the water below. Suicide Bridge is legendary in its own right.

Craig Cropper, current owner of Suicide Bridge Restaurant, which has been in his family since 1983, says these days there’s a lot more than cold beer and crab balls being served at the restaurant.

Craig says they do sight seeing, lunch or dinner, and murder mystery dinners, and most popular – the crab feast cruises. The cruise begins with a scenic excursion on either the Choptank River Queen or the Dorothy Megan. People are bussed in from all over the region for the three-hour cruise. He says a lot of them get to see wildlife along the water as well. Once the pass boat makes its way back to the dock, visitors cross the docks to the next part of their day – the crab feast.

“The crabs couldn’t be any fresher,” Craig says. we have crabbers landing the crabs on our dock daily just within two miles of the restaurant.”

In addition to fresh steamed crabs, guests can enjoy Maryland crab soup, chicken, clam strips, corn on the cob, cole slaw and dessert.

Suicide Bridge Restaurant also has a banquet hall that seats up to 300 people.

“We do crab feasts, weddings, company picnics, and class reunions,” Craig says.

A full lunch and dinner menu can be found inside the restaurant. Popular menu items include blackened stuffed tuna, scallop caprese, and Erica’s seafood salad.
