Acorn Market in Salisbury has been serving up delicious food made with fresh ingredients since 2008.
Christine Braughler bought the Acorn Market in 2013. Back then it was still at it’s original location on Main Street. With only 24 seats, and a growing following, Christine knew it was time to expand.
It was around this time that the old Feldman’s Furniture building in Downtown Salisbury was being restored. After seeing it, Christine knew it would be the Acorn Market’s new home.
“It’s remarkable,” Christine says. “We’ve actually doubled our sales and we’ve created a whole new clientele, and our old customers still come back to see us.”
With an open floor plan flooded with natural light, the space welcomes customers to sit, relax and converse with fellow diners.
“We wanted to be like a community restaurant where people feel comfortable to come in and we do see that it’s a social atmosphere as well because we have community tables where people can join and if you have a party of two you can join in with four that are seated there,” Christine says. “We want people to interact.”
When you walk into the new location, make your way to the counter in the middle of the restaurant to place your order. Then grab a seat inside or if the weather is nice, outside on their patio which overlooks the Wicomico River. They’ll let you know when your food is ready to be picked up at the back counter.
“We have an 8 to 10 minute turnaround on a normal day. Knowing that everything that you’re getting is made to order it does take a couple minutes to put everything together but we do suggest if you’re coming to carry out call ahead and place your order so it will be ready when you get here,” Christine says.
Their number one seller of sandwiches is their chicken salad made on fresh baked bread. Their top second choice would be the Jumpin’ Jack panini. They also have a signature cookie that everyone loves called the cowboy cookie made with coconut, chocolate chips, and pecans.
Whether you go for the ambiance, the sandwiches or the cookies, the Acorn Market will have you leaving happy.
