Easter is over, but if you’re like many other moms and dads, there are still plenty of plastic Easter eggs lying around the house.
Sure, you could toss them, or save them for next year, or you could re-purpose them. WBOC Interactive Marketing Coordinator Lauren Hitch shows us a few uses for those leftover plastic eggs including teacups and maracas.

Teacups
Needed:
- Plastic Egg
- Button
- Pipe Cleaner
- Hot Glue
- Scissors
Steps:
- Take one end of the plastic egg and hot glue a button on the rounded end.
- Use scissors to cut a pipe cleaner to use as the handle for the teacup.
- Hot glue the pipe cleaner to the egg.
Chalice
Needed:
- Large Plastic Egg
- Hot Glue
Steps:
- Use hot glue to put one rounded end of the egg on top of the other rounded end.
- Fill chalice with jewelry, tea lights, small flower, etc.
Word Family Eggs
Needed:
- Plastic Eggs
- Marker
Steps:
- Use a marker to write word families on the eggs.
- When you twist the egg, different words are made.
- Have your child pronounce each new word.
- Make multiple eggs for each word family.
Counting Egg Game
Needed:
- Plastic Eggs
- Marker
Steps:
- Use a marker to draw a number on the top of an egg.
- Choose a different colored egg bottom and draw dots on the bottom of an egg.
- After doing this with many numbers, lay the separate plastic egg pieces on a table and have your child match the numbered tops with their corresponding bottoms.
Maracas
Needed:
- Plastic Egg
- Two Plastic Spoons
- Beans, Uncooked Rice, or Uncooked Noodles
- Decorative Tape
Steps:
- Place beans, uncooked rice, or uncooked noodles in the plastic egg.
- Put the two spoons together and place the plastic egg in between the spoons at the top.
- At the bottom of the spoon handles, start wrapping decorative tape until you get near the egg.
- Using a piece of decorative tape, wrap the top of the spoons around the seam of the plastic egg.
