The Seaford Community Concert Association opened it’s doors in 1949 and it’s still going strong today.
The Seaford Community Concert Association President David Grantz and Board Member Fern Morrison join us to to talk about how their association partners with the Seaford School District and artists they bring to the area.
David says the association is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to bring top quality performers to this area at a very affordable cost to its members.
SCCA concerts are presented in the Kenneth C. Madden Auditorium at Seaford High School. This recently upgraded facility, one of the largest venues in Southern Delaware, boasts new seating and a state-of-the-art sound system.
SCCA provides annual outreach shows for local students, providing musical experiences that are outside their normal listening habits. The SCCA purchased, or co-purchased, auditorium equipment ranging from the concert grand piano to spotlights to microphones.
Fern says they they had many wonderful concerts last year and have many more concerts scheduled for 2017.
David says artists are carefully chosen to provide the highest quality entertainment available to the central Delmarva community. The artists they choose have appeared at Carnegie Hall, on Broadway, at major sporting events and have won prestigious awards worldwide.
David says the concerts really make for an enjoyable evening.
