We already know about Delmarva’s connection to the fight for equality.
Freedom fighters such as Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass are both from here. But, there is a modern-day freedom fighter from Delmarva. He is a native of Milton. Bryan Stevenson is the founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery Alabama and is a widely acclaimed public interest lawyer who has dedicated his career to helping the poor, the incarcerated, and the condemned.
This weekend, The Milton Historical Society is dedicating an exhibit to his life and his work. We will learn more about the exhibit from Chief Curator for the museum, Dr. Heidi Nassrom Evans.
The life and career of Milton native Bryan Stevenson will be on display at the Lydia Black Cannon Museum in Milton from Saturday, May 25 through December.
