WICOMICO, Md. – Wicomico County Recreation and Parks is having its first-ever West Wicomico Heritage Day at Pemberton Historical Park this Saturday, Sept. 10.
West Wicomico Heritage Day will begin at 7 a.m. with the 21st Annual Heritage Bike Tour. The registration fee for the bike tour is $40 for adults and $25 for children ages 8-18. Children ages 7 and under will be able to participate in the bike tour for free.
A scavenger hunt titled Road Historians Scavenger Hunt will also be available for people who might not want to participate in the bike tour. The scavenger hunt will begin at 11 a.m. Registration for the scavenger hunt is $10.
A raffle for a Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser Bike will also be available for anyone who participates in the bike tour or scavenger hunt.
Alongside the bike tour and scavenger hunt, West Wicomico Heritage Day will feature a variety of events for visitors. These include park activities such as a Pemberton Hall open house and two guided tours through Pemberton’s History Trail and plantation grounds. Those events start at 10 a.m. and are free to the public.
Proceeds from the West Wicomico Heritage Day will go directly toward the historical preservation of Pemberton Historical Park and the Whitehaven Schoolhouse, as well as funding several environmental programs offered to children and families throughout Wicomico County.
