Tonesa Walker of Berlin lost her daughter, Londyn, just shy of her first birthday to Right Heart Hypoplastic Syndrome. Now she’s making other aware of this life lost too soon and the rare congenital heart disease by inviting the community to Children’s Community Festival in the Park on Londyn’s “Angelversary.”
A local non-profit group called, “Grass Roots Rescue” in Milton is working to improve the lives of animals through rescue, outreach, and education. Today, we learn more about the group and an upcoming even to help raise money to keep animals safe. The 3rd Annual “4 Paws Got Your 6” benefit is September 7th (rain date of the 8th)at the American Legion on rt 24 in Millsboro and will run from 1-6. The focus of this event is on Veterans, specifically those dealing with PTSD and the positive impact animals can have on the lives of these individuals.
It’s Most Wanted Monday. Today, Lt. Tim Robinson of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office shows us the mugshots of six people wanted by law enforcement. He will also talk about the importance of National Night Out, which happens Tuesday, August 6th in communities across Delmarva.

We always talk about fresh, off-the-vine, red tomatoes, but we have a lot of love for the green ones, too. Pastor Martin Hutchison, founder of the Camden Community Garden in Salisbury shows us his take on fried green tomatoes. He also shows us how to make an simple dish using zucchini. Both recipes are below.
Pastor Martin’s Fried Green Tomatoes
Green Eating Tomatoes
1 egg
Ritz or Club Crackers
Old Bay
Olive Oil
Pick green eating tomatoes
Wash tomatoes
Slice tomatoes across the core
Beat an egg in a bowl
Crush crackers and place in a bowl
Dip sliced tomato in egg and then in crackers
Press the tomato into the crackers (do both sides)
Place on plate
Cover the bottom of a frying pan with olive oil and heat
Once oil is hot, place the cracker crusted tomatoes in the oil and cook until the crackers turn golden
Flip and cook until golden
Set on a plate with paper towels to drain oil
Sprinkle Old Bay lightly on each tomato
Let cool and enjoy!
Pastor Martin’s Zucchini Spears
Small young zucchini
Italian Seasoning
Garlic Salt
Lemon Juice
Parmesan Cheese
Cut the ends off the zucchini and cut into spears of equal size
Dip spears in lemon juice which was poured in a bowl
Lay on greased cookie sheet
Coat spears with Italian Seasoning and Garlic salt (to taste)
Bake in Oven at 350 until the spears stick tender
Coat the spears with parmesan cheese and put under broiler until cheese turns golden
Let cool and Enjoy!
