We’re taking some time today to go back in time – to when a woman named Annie Jump Cannon launched her passion for astronomy, and started a career that would land her in today’s history books. In fact, Annie’s classification system involving hundreds of thousands of stars is still being used today, nearly 100 years later. We’re proud to say Annie is one of ours, Delmarva. We sit down with Author Dava Sobel to hear more about her book on Annie’s life, The Glass Universe. Artist and Writer N. Taylor Collins also joins us, to discuss the upcoming Annie Jump Cannon birthday celebration.

AUCHEY

The number one question most people want answers to when they visit the dentist – Do I have a cavity? There are other questions, though, you should be getting answers to, so today, Dr. Leigh Auchey with Delmarva Dental Services shares those questions — and their answers. Dr. Auchey also provided additional questions and answers that we do not cover on the show today. It’s all great information that can help keep your teeth in tip-top shape. You can read those questions and answers here.

BILL-ANDREW

Christmas comes early this year for members of the Delaware Electric Cooperative. We sit down with CEO & President, Bill Andrew, to hear more about the DEC’s Capital Credits program. It allows DEC to return $7.7 million in capital credits back to its members. Bill also plays the role of one of Santa’s elves, and has a couple of surprises for WBOC!

We know you want to look your best this holiday season, no matter the event. The Renaissance Medical Spa by Peninsula Plastic Surgery is your one-stop shop for total rejuvenation. DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield stops by to learn how they can keep your skin glowing all season long.

What does it take to become a runner? You may be surprised to learn that it only takes putting one foot in front of the other. And although you may not be at the point where you can run a marathon, with a little time and effort, you could be signing up for one next year. DelmarvaLife’s Lisa Bryant visits the Rehoboth Beach Running Company to talk about the first steps you should take before you take those first steps out onto the road.

We’re in the Kirby and Holloway Kitchen with the team from Eat Sprout. They’re trying to change the way families on Delmarva eat. They cook, prepare and deliver healthy, fresh meals. We’ll sample one of their dishes when we use local squash to make a delicious organic grain bowl.
