Today on DelmarvaLife:

It’s hard to believe there was a time when people were turned away from resort attractions because of the color of their skin. It was definitely a reality early on in the 20th Century, but that didn’t mean they were denied quality entertainment from some of the period’s superstars. Today, we’re learning about Rosedale Beach in Sussex County. It was a place that drew in some of the most iconic musicians of our time, including Ray Charles, Sam Cooke and Aretha Franklin. Researcher Tamara Jubilee-Shaw tells us about this important part of history – not just on Delmarva, but on a national scale.

In a time when inequality and the fight for social justice were taking place in Maryland, a man named Paul Henderson was there to capture it all. As a photojournalist, Henderson captured thousands of candid shots from the 1930s to the 1960s. As Black History Month continues, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore has some of those photographs on display. DelmarvaLife’s Sydney Whitfield visited UMES’ Mosely Gallery to get a preview.
It wouldn’t be the start of another work week without “Most Wanted Monday.” Lt. Tim Robinson, with the Wicomico County Sherriff’s Office, stops by to detail this week’s list. He’ll explain how tips that lead to an arrest could result in some extra cash for anyone who calls Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776.
Imagine how safe you would be on the road if you just had an extra set of eyes and ears. What about an extra foot on the brake when you get a little too close to another vehicle? That’s the idea behind Subaru “EyeSight” technology. It’s one of the newest features on Subaru models. Syd stops by Gateway Subaru to show us how this state-of-the-art technology can go a long way in creating a safer driving experience.

Take one walk outside and it’s pretty clear – it isn’t quite Spring just yet. While we may have to deal with the cold weather a bit longer, that doesn’t mean our skin has to suffer. In fact, the team at About Faces Day Spa & Salon in Salisbury says ditching dry skin is as easy as adding a few steps and products to your daily routine. We’ll learn more.
