“Quilts of Valor” is it’s a national nonprofit foundation whose mission is to cover service members and veterans in comforting and healing quilts of valor. Back in October, they awarded quilts to 13 Vietnam veterans during a display of the traveling Wall that Heals at the Mason Dixon VFW in Ocean View. The Mason Dixon VFW will host its annual block drive in a couple of weeks for volunteers to create blocks for future quilts of valor. Participants supply their own machines and basic sewing supplies, and block kits are provided. The goal is for volunteers to create blocks for future quilts of valor. In 2019, a total of 33,375 quilts were awarded to service member and veterans across the united states. Many more are still waiting for quilts because quilters can’t keep up with the demand.
