Today on DelmarvaLife –
On June 15th, 1954, WBOC-TV signed on the air for the first time. Today, we celebrate the 65th anniversary of the station that is committed to serving Delmarva.
WBOC veteran reporter and anchor, Steve Hammond stops by to talk about the 32 years he has worked for the station. He also gives us a preview of an Anniversary Special that airs tonight at 7 p.m. on WBOC.
In 1965, a teenager from Laurel was crowned Miss 16. Cathy Parker joins us to talk about what led up to her winning the title and what it meant to win.
It is music from the fifties that inspires the band “Oh Boy! A Tribute to Rockabilly.” The band takes the Mid South Audio Stage to perform a song that was released ten days before WBOC signed on, “That’s Alright” by Elvis Presley and a song written for the occasion, “WBOC.”
Most of us know and understand the immediacy that must be taken in the situation of a heart attack or a stroke. PRMC’s Dr. Chris Snyder joins us in Historic Studio D to talk about another condition of which, experts say, needs to be taken just as serious, sepsis.
Is there anything better than fresh fruits and veggies in the summertime? You can find them at Wright’s Market, along Route 50 in Mardela Springs. The family has been farming for five generations and is proud of what they sell. DelmarvaLife’s Katie Zarrilli shows us how the market has grown over the years, and also introduces us to a couple of “mascots” that have drawn people in over the years.
Most Wanted Monday features six locals wanted by local law enforcement. Lt. Tim Robinson with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office shows us the fugitives and explains how information leading to the apprehension and arrest of any of them could put cash in your pocket.
