Today on DelmarvaLife –

There’s two types of people in this world – those that disregard change and those who put their change into a glass jar or piggy bank. But, perhaps you’ve heard that there’s a national coin shortage. And, you’re probably wondering why. We talk with Dr. Memo Diriker, Director of BEACON at Salisbury University to get some answers.

Funland in Rehoboth Beach has been a Delmarva staple for more than 6o years now. It’s more than just a place to ride a few rides or beat your highest score on one of the games. It’s a place where memories are made. For a brief moment, COVID threatened the opening of Funland. Well, the fun opens tomorrow. We talk with four generation family member, Chris Darr, to find out about some of the changes fun-seekers can expect.

Over the years, we’ve got to know the friendly faces at A&A Companies – leaders on Delmarva in all things geothermal, HVAC, and radiant services. They’ve been leading in those areas for 33 years now. 102-5 Corey’s Phoebus takes us down memory lane, and shows us what the future may look like for the company.

It seems like very week, another event that makes Delmarva special has had to cancel due to COVID-19 concerns. We can imagine that it’s never an easy decision. But we know that the team behind these tough calls are just doing everything they can to keep us safe. We talk with Chairman of the Wicomico County Fair, Zach Evans, to find out about some of the options they’re exploring.

I think it’s safe to say that everybody knows about the ponies of Chincoteague. Their beauty, their majesty…they’re truly a Delmarva treasure. And they’ve certainly caught the eye of one local photographer. We talk with Darcy Cole, to find out what this year has been like and why she has such a passion for the ponies.

It’s always a treat when we can spend time with our friends at Island Creamery. They’ve been in the business since 1975 and it all started in Chincoteague. Now, they have two locations – Salisbury and Berlin, with each shop having it’s own unique flare. Katie stopped by the shop in Berlin, where the “community is tight and the ice cream is just right!”

We all know apple butter and regular butter, but what about peach butter? Our recipe for Summer’s Best Peach Butter is a sweet and creamy spread that will melt perfectly on to those biscuits. A slow cooker recipe that will have you saying yum. Check out the recipe below:

What to Do

  1. In a 4-quart or larger slow cooker, combine peaches, sugar, butter, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, and cloves; mix well. Cover and cook on low heat 7 to 8 hours or on high heat 3 to 4 hours, or until peaches are soft.
  2. Stir in tapioca and continue to cook uncovered 45 to 60 minutes or until mixture is thickened.
  3. Pour into canning or mason jars (or a dish with a cover) and allow to cool. When cool, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
