It seems like human trafficking is starting to make its way into the headlines more each day. It’s been called “modern-day slavery.” The Honorable Zoe Bakoru-Bakoko has spent her life fighting for peace, and advocating for victims, and now you have an opportunity to hear more about why she does what she does on Thursday, March 28th at 7 p.m. at St. Matthew’s By the Sea UMC in Fenwick Island.
Teaching our kids to mind their manners doesn’t seem to be much of a priority for some parents, that’s why one program on Delmarva is working to change that. Response to Intervention Paraprofessional Lucy Dutton and Fourth-Grade Teacher Caitlin Prince of W. Reily Brown Elementary School, stopped by to tell us more about the “Manners in Motion” program. You’ll soon start seeing a lot more than pretty spring flowers popping up across Delmarva. Don’t be surprised if you start seeing blue pinwheels. The pinwheels are part of a Life Crisis Center campaign dedicated to raising awareness and education about the prevention of and protection against child abuse. Executive Director of Life Crisis Center, Abigail Marsh; and Development Associate Courtney Geiser talk about the campaign and how the community can help plant the pinwheels on Sunday, March 31st at 2 p.m. at the Salisbury Moose.
The Delmarva Antique Bottle Club is having a show in May. The club’s president, Keith Fleming shows us a part of his collection and explains why bottle collecting is not just a lot of fun, it’s big business. The show is Sunday, May 19th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ellendale Fire Hall. Proceeds from the event is used to award a scholarship to a local student.
