13-year-old dirt bike racer, Katie Benson started riding dirt bikes since she was 4 years old. Her dad used to ride and then she got into it. Katie has accomplished a lot and competes with girls and boys. She holds 10 national titles and 1 women’s cup national title. Krystle tells us that Katie wants to go pro! Head Chef Brandon Sakelaridos with The Pig & Fish Restaurant Company stops by the DelmarvaLife Kitchen to make… you guessed it — pig and fish. The recipe consists of house cured pork belly, pan seared jumbo scallops, watercress salad, avocado, garbanzo beans, lemon vinaigrette, blackberry coulis, and crushed pistachio. Brandon also tells us about Rehoboth Restaurant week. There are 30+ restaurants participating and it runs from June 5 – 10 with $25, $35, and $45 price points.
83rd Annual Dover Days Festival

It’s no secret that the state of Delaware has a rich history – and a lot of that history is rooted in its capital city of Dover. Every year, the city celebrates its heritage and culture with one of the largest, longest running events in the state. The 83rd Annual Dover Days Festival is May 6 – 8. Wendy Vestall, Executive Director of Kent County Tourism, and Sarah Zimmerman, Park Superintendent with First State Heritage Park, stop the DelmarvaLife studio to tell us all about the event. Peach Pie Eating Competition

Peach pies are a big part of the celebration at Dover Days. So we’re getting in on the fun with a peach pie eating competition. Sean Streicher takes on John Doerfler with the Kent County Office of Tourism, and Craig Horleman, who was the peach pie eating champion from last year. The yummy peach pies were donated by Fifer Orchards.
