Berlin is in the running for the Independent We Stand America’s Main Streets Contest. Berlin has been named one of 25 quarter finalists. The 10 quarter finalists that receive the most online votes between now and May 28, will be considered by a panel of judges in the final phase of the contest. To vote, go here.
A quilt can help keep you warm on a cold day, but it can also tell a story or spark a memory of the person who made it, or gave it to you. There is an upcoming exhibit in Preston, Md. that will celebrate the craft of quilting, which is still alive and well on Delmarva. Quilt Historian, Kay Butler, and Quilt Enthusiast, Cathy Spence, join us in the DelmarvaLife studio today to talk about “A Stitch In Time.” This year’s exhibit opens Sat., May 13, 2017, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and admission is $5.
The 84th Annual Dover Days Festival is May 5-6. Dover is also celebrating its 300th birthday at the event. Dover Days is one of Delaware’s largest and longest-running free events and is entirely dedicated to promoting Delaware’s heritage and culture. There will be a huge parade at the event along with a circus, which is new this year. There’s plenty for the whole family to do at Dover Days. Events start May 5 at 6 pm and May 6 at 9 am at The Green in Downtown Dover.
Jimmy is getting a preview of the food at the Dover Days Festival. Chef and Owner, Michael Clampitt, brought his food truck to Historic Studio D. Jimmy and Michael are making shrimp and oyster po’ boys. The Po’ Boys Creole food truck will be at the Dover Days Festival this weekend.
The Annual “Bluegrass by the Mill” concert is Sunday, May 7 in Denton, Md. Board Members at Ames United Methodist Church, Bill Towers and Jeffrey Powell, join us on the couches to talk about what we can expect at the upcoming concert. Gates open at noon on May 7 and music starts at 2 pm. They are asking for a $20 donation at the door and all proceeds benefit firefighters and burn victims.
We’re getting a preview of the Bluegrass by the Mill concert with the bluegrass band, “Flatland Drive.” They’re performing “Gold-Digging, Wrecking Baller Blues” and “Blind Bart” on the Mid South Audio Stage. Be sure to tune in today at 5 pm!
