If there’s one thing the people of Laurel pride themselves on, it’s their roots. In fact, one stop at the Laurel Historical Society Headquarters, The Cook House, and you’ll be able to see many items of years gone by. Each one has a story of its own to tell.
It’s hard to imagine the town of Laurel with Johnny Janosik World of Furniture, and the story of Johnny Janosik is a true rags-to-riches tale. It begins with a young man showing up in Laurel with an empty stomach and $2 to his name. The rest, as they say, is history.
The Good Samaritan Aid Organization has been around for decades and has helped countless people. That help comes from the organization’s thrift store. WBOC’s Heidi Werosta pays a visit to the store to see what kind of treasure she’ll find and how those treasures help people in need.
