Winter weather is on its way. That may not mean much to you, as you might have the means to make sure you stay warm and cozy. What about the people who don’t? The people who shudder at the mere thought of freezing temperatures because they know they’re going to have to face the elements, with nothing but the shirt on their back. That’s happening right here on Delmarva. You have an opportunity, though, to help. It’s all part of WBOC and Sherwood Automotive‘s Rising Tide campaign. All donations will be distributed to The Joseph House and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware. The next Rising Tide event takes place on Wednesday, November 1, from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Drop-off locations are at Sherwood Jeep in Salisbury, Auto Outlet 99 in Cambridge, and the WBOC Milton and Dover bureaus.
The holidays are just around the corner and if you’re playing host, you’ll want to pay attention to what our etiquette expert Grace Foxwell Murdock has to say on the show today. Grace also tells us about World Kindness Day and the Dance for Kindness. The Dance for Kindness event has been going on worldwide for six years but this will be the second time in Salisbury, Md. You can register to be a part of the Dance for Kindness Salisbury flashmob here. The event is Nov. 12 starting at 2 pm in Downtown Salisbury. Grace shows Jimmy, Lisa, and a few of our audience members the dance moves today!

We talk a lot on the show about how the community of motorcycle riders on Delmarva is a tight knit group. Whenever there is a need, they come together to help. They are at it again with an event to help one of their own. Becky Bowden, organizer of the “Strong as Steel” Poker Run, joins us today to talk about Vietnam Veteran Joseph Sapp, or “Steel” as they call him. The poker run is Sat., Nov. 18 starting at the Greene Turtle on 116th St. in Ocean City, Md. Registration is between 11 am and 11:45 am and kickstands will go up at noon.
