Today, we’re honored that Brandon’s father, John Rittenhouse is with us today, sharing his story and spreading a powerful message.
As you watch our stories today on substance abuse you might think “this doesn’t affect me”. That’s a natural reaction – but the truth is – substance abuse can affect anyone. Even if you are lucky enough to not fall victim to addiction, being a part of the conversation about this growing epidemic is the key to putting an end to it. Lisa talks with Peggy Geisler, the Executive Director of Sussex County Health Coalition about DE Goes Purple.
It is important to go beyond facts and figures and hear actual stories of addiction. Katie brings us the story of Kim Jones and her debilitating battle with drugs. Her story is filled with heartache, but ends with hope.
The number twelve is significant for many reasons like twelve inches in a foot or 12 eggs to a dozen, but it goes so much deeper. The twelve step program has been instrumental in the triumph over drugs and alcohol. It worked for Bob Boyd, and Katie is with him to talk about how he wants to bring a facility for 12 step meetings to western Sussex County.
Jimmy talks with Erin Williams, Director of Business Development at Sun Behavioral Health about getting into the minds of those who are addicted which plays a major role in trying to put a stop to this epidemic.
