Today on DelmarvaLife:
Substance abuse is destroying families on Delmarva. Talbot County Sheriff Joe Gamble is calling this issue “the deadliest drug epidemic in our history.” 2,089 people in Maryland died from an overdose last year and four out of five people who use heroin started with recreational use of prescription pain killers. President of Tidewater Rotary in Easton, Luci Hughes also joins us and they both share information about the project “Talbot Goes Purple.” We even turn our studio purple today to support the cause. You can show your support as well by going purple. Share pictures on our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram.
Etiquette Expert Grace Foxwell Murdock joins us in Historic Studio D to talk about dressing professionally.
Delmar’s Jared Watson performs with a band today, “Team Jared” on the Mid South Audio Stage. Today, they’re performing “Amarillo By Morning” and “Highway Patrol.”
Flooding from Hurricane Harvey has displaced tens of thousands of people in the Houston and surrounding area. The widespread devastation caused by Harvey has prompted Sherwood Automotive’s Rising Tide program to ask you to help us provide financial donations for the youngest victims of this historic storm. To make this happen, Sherwood Automotive has teamed up with WBOC’s Bless Our Children campaign. Every cent you donate to the Bless Our Children program through September will go directly to charities helping children affected by this disaster. To donate, go here.
