We are learning how you can honor the friends and loved ones whose lives have been touched by cancer in the upcoming Relay for Life in Wicomico County. We’re sitting down with a few people who will open their hearts and share their stories about why this is such an important event, and how you can be a part of it. The event is Friday, September 21  at 5pm at Winterplace Parkway, Salisbury. WBOC Is a Proud Sponsor.

Kat Harting is on the Peace Day Organizing Committee in Salisbury and she’s here to promote Peace In The Park. It’s an event that will draw together the local community of people who actively seek to stop violence here at home, overseas, or both, in conjunction with the United Nations observance of the International Day of Peace. If the weather permits, the local gathering is set for 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 15, in Salisbury City Park across from Ben’s Red Swings.

Instructor at Salisbury, Maryland Kennel Club, Karen Cottingham, and Phil, the dachshund is with us today as we learn about  Responsible Dog Ownership Day. This is a free event for the entire family, and folks can stop by anytime during the morning for as short a time as they want, or hang around as long as they want. That event gives folks the opportunity to learn about dog breeds, dog sports, and play guided games with their own dogs. Salisbury Maryland Kennel Club’s Responsible Dog Ownership Day will be held at Winterplace Parkway, Salisbury, Md. On Saturday, September 22nd, 2018. 8.00 a.m. until noon.

Hurricane Florence is expected to hit Delmarva later this week, and it has already been described as potentially “catastrophic” for the Carolinas, but that doesn’t mean we’re out of the woods. Our friends at Spicer Brothers Construction say it should only take about 20 minutes for you to get a good idea of how your home will weather the storm.
