Three Injured, Including Toddler, in Rollover Accident in Dorchester County

CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Three people, including a two-year-old toddler, were flown to the hospital after a rollover accident Thursday afternoon in Dorchester County, Maryland.

Maryland State Police say around 12:35 p.m. Thursday, a 2003 Gold Ford Taurus, traveling eastbound on MD Route 50 in the area of Chateau Road, left the roadway and rolled several times. Police say three people from Harrington, Delaware, and Cambridge, Maryland were inside the car at the time, including the young child.

A preliminary investigation revealed what police called a "controlled dangerous substance" in the car. Police say they believe the driver, identified as 34-year-old James Richard Jones, from Harrington, as well as the passengers, were under the influence of that drug during the time of the accident. Police did not release what the controlled dangerous substance was.

All three people, including the child, were flown out by Maryland State Police Helicopters to University of Maryland Baltimore Shock Trauma and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Their conditions were not known as of Friday evening.

State Police say charges are pending for possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
