Update: Officials Find Man Who Drowned in Nanticoke River Sunday

BIVALVE, Md. - Maryland Natural Resources Police have recovered the body of a man who drowned in the Nanticoke River on Sunday evening, according to officials.

At around 1 p.m. on Monday, NRP found the 46-year-old victim from Salisbury, Md. Officials have not yet released his name as they have been unable to notify next of kin.

Firefighters on scene Sunday said a man swam out to help some kayakers who were in distress, but also got caught up in the water. This was in the area of Cedar Hill Marina in Bivalve.

Firefighters and dive units from multiple fire departments in Wicomico County responded.
