FELTON, Del. -- Delaware State Police are investigating a deadly crash involving a pedi-cyclist early Saturday morning.
It happened sometime between 3:15 and 3:45 a.m. on Route 13 just south of Plymouth Road.
According to police, an SUV and the bike were traveling south on the road when the SUV hit the bikes wheel. DSP said the man riding the bike on the shoulder of the road was projected forward off his bike. At the time, Route 13 was restricted down to the right lane only.
The driver of the SUV kept driving, state police said. Part of the bumper was left at the scene.
Police have identified the 28-year-old Felton man riding the bike as William O. Boyer.
He was not wearing a helmet, but police said he did have a light on his hat and he was wearing a shirt with visibility lime safety straps. He died at the scene.
Police said another person driving by reported the incident, and DSP doesn't believe there to be any witnesses.
The crash remains under investigation.
