Laurel Middle School Substitute Teacher Arrested for Offensively Touching a Student

LAUREL, Del. - Police arrested a substitute teacher from Laurel Middle School after a child claimed he offensively touched her during school hours.

On March 13, the Laurel Police Department received a complaint from the student’s mother.

Further investigation showed Michael Luciano, (45) of Seaford, Del., was hired by the Laurel School District 10 days prior to the incident as a substitute teacher. Police say while teaching, Luciano was offensively touching the juvenile victim. The Laurel School District terminated Luciano’s employment once they were notified.

Laurel Police concluded their month long investigation on June 6 and charged Luciano with offensive touching. Luciano turned himself in to the Laurel Police without incident and was released on $500 unsecure bond and ordered to have no unsupervised contacted with anyone under the age of 18-years-old.
