FRUITLAND, Md.- Investigators have ruled as accidental an early Monday morning fire that caused an estimated $800,000 in damage to the Sonic Drive-in on North Fruitland Boulevard in Fruitland.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said the blaze was discovered by an employee at around 5:44 a.m.
It took 15 firefighters from the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Department and assisting companies approximately 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
The fire caused an estimated $600,000 in damage to the structure and another $200,000 in damage to its contents. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators determined the fire started above ceiling and was caused by an electrical malfunction.
