Cambridge Parents React To Teacher On Leave, School Searched For Weapons

CAMBRIDGE, Md.- A new social media challenge has parents and teachers concerned, especially at Mace's Lane Middle School in Cambridge.

It's called the choking challenge.  Students take videos of themselves choking one another until they become unconscious.

The videos have been circulating through social media.  Principal Jymil Thompson says there have been three incidents at Mace's Lane in the past month and it needs to stop.

"We just want community support with this situation going forward. So we can ensure your kids come to our school like I said before leaving the same way they came in, not being injured or carted away in an ambulance," Thompson said.

Mace's Lane sent out a letter to parents on Tuesday with steps to end this behavior.  Of those proposed solutions was a presentation to students on the consequences for choking classmates and educating teachers on what to look for between classes.
