DELMAR, Md.- The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office says two people have been arrested after a drug investigation led to the discovery of thousands of bags of heroin.
According to the sheriff's criminal investigation division, deputies with the community action team conducted a traffic stop in Delmar, Md, as part of a drug investigation. Inside the car was Jarell Rodriguez, 28, and Dejana Rodriguez, also 28.
A K-9 scanned the car and indicated substances may be inside. Authorities say they found 1,473 bags of heroin. Both suspects were arrested.
The Delmar Police Department helped in the investigation and executed a follow-up warrant at a home on Magnolia Drive in Seaford. There, police said they found additional 13.5 “sticks” of heroin or 33.75 logs of heroin. Authorities say it brought the total of drugs seized inside the home to 4,225 bags of heroin.
In all, 5,874 bags of heroin were seized in the multi-agency operation.
Both are charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics (heroin) and possession not marijuana (heroin).
The sheriff's office says charges are also pending in Delaware for the pair.
