VIRGINIA– Election officials are reminding eligible voters of upcoming deadlines ahead of the General Election Nov. 3, as early voting in the Commonwealth starts Sept. 18.
Virginia's Department of Elections says early voting runs through Oct. 31, with polling places scheduled to remain open on weekends Oct. 18-31. Voters can determine their polling place by contacting a local registrar's office.
Accomack County's office at 24387 Joynes Neck Road in Accomac is open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and can be contacted via the following methods:

Officials say voters must register or update information through a registrar's office by Oct. 23. This also marks the date to request absentee ballots through email, mail, fax or Citizen Portal. Voters can also use the site to apply for the permanent absentee list.
Military and overseas voters applying for absentee ballots must also do so by Oct. 23, with those not registered in Virginia able to complete both steps via a Federal Post Card Application, according to election officials.
Voters awaiting absentee ballots can track their status via Ballot Scout.
Completed absentee ballots can be returned to registrars' offices, drop-off locations, or by mail through 7 p.m. on Nov. 3. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked on or before Nov. 3 and received by noon Nov. 6.
Some first-time mail-in voters may be required to include a copy of their ID with completed ballots, according to the Department of Elections.
