DOVER, Del. - Mike Katz has won the Republican Primary to go on to the General Election race for Delaware's U.S. Senator, according to the Associated Press.

AP called the race after Katz received 7,872 votes over opponent John Shulli's 2,757 votes as of 8:27 p.m. on Sept. 15.

Delaware's Department of Elections reports Katz received a total of 30,896 votes across all three ballot methods as of 7:30 a.m. on Sept. 16.

Katz will now go on to face Senator Chris Coons, who was also declared the winner in his own primary quickly after polls closed on Sept. 15.
