Cheswold Crash

CHESWOLD, Del.-The Cheswold Police Department is investigating a late-night car crash.

Police say just after midnight, a car traveling on Main Street lost control and hit the front of a home located on the 300 block. None of the occupants of the home were injured, according to police, although there is extensive damage to the front of the residence.

Officials say fire crews assisted in stabilizing the building and extricating the driver who was transported to the hospital. That driver was reportedly treated for a broken femur and minor lacerations.

Investigators at this time are calling this incident a speeding event. The Red Cross  has been contacted to assist residents of the home, along with town Code Enforcement to assess the condition of the building.
