REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.- Rehoboth beach is getting ready for a beautification project.

Rehoboth in Bloom was launched two months ago, but organizers are still waiting for the right weather to place flowers outside storefronts downtown. The organization says it can't start planting until the cold weather is gone for good.

Right now, self-watering planters are scheduled to be installed outside some participating businesses in the first block of Wilmington, Rehoboth and Baltimore avenues on April 30.

Rehoboth in Bloom hopes to plant its first flowers during the first week of May. However, the types of flowers have not yet been finalized.

"The main ones will probably be petunias, because they do the best in the self-watering planters, but she's looking also at some potato vines, sweet potato vines, and some other plants," according to Rehoboth in Bloom chairperson Cindy Lovett.

Rehoboth in Bloom is part of the national organization America in Bloom. Organizers say the project has been four years in the making in Rehoboth Beach.
